BRIDGETOWN BARBADOS, WEDNESDAY, JULY 7, 2010. Innovation! That is the new 'hot topic'. Project Officer in charge of member relations and advocacy at the Barbados Coalition of Service Industries (BCSI), Natasha Boyce has recently returned from a one week training session entitled Trade, Innovation, Policy and Small States and has called the execution of the workshop "excellent".
The workshop organized by the Shridath Ramphal Centre, Cave Hill Campus, University of the West Indies focused on the role of innovation in developing trade for small states. All aspects of innovation were examined whether practical or theoretical.
When asked of the benefits for of participating in the workshop, Natasha replied that she now has a better understanding of how innovation can play a part in every policy and its impact on future economic development. Further, the BCSI and its members will benefit from Natasha's new knowledge in her capacity at the organization. Other information including specialized knowledge on how other small states have used innovation to promote their developmental agenda will also be vital.
Natasha highlighted a session facilitated by Dr.Chantal Ononaiwu entitled Public Procurement and Innovation which she considered to be one of the more memorable activities. She also took the time to endorse the training workshop, "I will recommend that anyone take a course with the Shridath Ramphal Centre" she said, while describing the training as accurate, direct and very appropriate. Another five individuals from other business support organizations in Barbados also part took in the training, as well as young professionals from throughout the Caribbean.
